Region's Crete Department of Environment and Physical Planning is
responsible for planning and application of environment, physical and town
planning policy, according to the national directions for sunstainable
development.
The Department closely collaborates with the Prefectoral Services of
Environment and Environment and Mynicipalities of Crete Region.

Forest Service is the main public organisation in Greece for the conservation, management and development of natural terrestrial ecosystems.

The main responsibilities include: implementation of forest policy, protection of forests and natural environment, the production of  long term forest development programs, awareness in the current topics of scientific and technological progress regarding conservation of natural environment, supervision and implementation of the forest works.
